Psychology can be defined as ‘the science of the nature, functions and phenomena of human mind and behaviour.’
Human behaviour , motivation, personality, intellect, development, communication and learning are all encompassed in psychology. All of these are tools in the diagnosis and treatment of those elements of life which fall outside the sphere of conventional physical experience.
The mind is mysterious. Psychology and Personal Development aim at unravelling and understanding those mysteries.
The first step in therapy involves a simple gathering of background information in order to assess the best therapeutic strategy. The healing process for one person would be different for another.
Personal Development Coaching is a set of carefully defined and rigidly controlled procedures which the Therapist will develop to help solve a client’s particular problem.
There are many forms of therapy ranging from personal skill training, relaxation techniques, cognitive techniques, NLP, and of course Hypnotherapy. To the client it can seem that that the number and combination of approaches is virtually limitless.
No two therapeutic options are ever exactly the same …. Just as no two client’s problems are ever totally similar. A Therapist’s task is to always tailor a specific programme to meet the needs of a client’s life problems and life style.
A totally confidential, trusting and co-operative relationship is vital between client and Therapist. Without such a mutual understanding and rapport, success in any real terms is rarely achieved.
Perhaps the one element which sets this form of treatment and support apart in today’s world is the total absence of drugs, needles or any other form of invasive or artificial treatment. Personal Development Coaching is based solely on solid research and well founded theory and well proven clinical methods.
However, it is important to note that a competent Therapist, will at all times work with a client’s doctor. There are many occasions where specific drugs and Personal Development Coaching will complement each other. Consequently a cooperative relationship between the Therapist, Client and medical team becomes the norm.
There are times when the Therapist will refer a client on to a Psychiatrist ( A medical practitioner who deals in serious and severe psychological complaints).
